Koreas progressive intellectuals are hosting an academic and cultural conference (named "Marx Communnale") based on the theme of Marx. The conference will take place in Seoul, Korea, from May 23 till May 25. All progressive theorists and activists in the world are invited. You can read its prospectus and program in the English version of our website http://www.communnale.net For your reference, we have attached a word file on its prospectus and program. At this conference, we are going to discuss all the theoretical and practical tasks that are emerging as important in the areas of Marx, philosophy, politics & economics criticism, culture theory, history, etc. In addition, the conference will try to avoid an existing style of conference that often runs in a traditional way. Thus, it will run as a Dionysiac festive event by linking creative cultural performances.
The capitalism has advanced into a globalized international system that is no longer in possession of its own exterior ever since the challenge by materialistic socialism has ended in tragedy. With the disappearance of democratic social controls to limit freedom in capitalistic movement to a certain degree, the entire world has turned into a 'free capitalistic heaven'. At this juncture, we want the progressive theory to contribute to scientifically analyze the recent progress of the worlds history. We intend to emphasize the importance of 'Marxism' among the Progressive Theory. Today, in which the human history is faced with the crossroads of 'degradation into barbarism' and 'creation of new hope', the 'presentness of Marxism' would be greater than in any other time. In particular, South Korea is in dual distress and falls into a critical situation as it is under the full-scale attack of neoliberalism and as the US dominates the world with its hegemonic world control strategy leading the confrontation against North Korea. We hope the worlds progressive intellectuals to participate in the conference in whatever way they can so that a global network might be created in preparation for the present crisis.
You may participate in the conference in various ways. You can join the conference in person and release your paper. Otherwise, you can send your paper or alliance message by email. Due to our limited budget, we are not able to support your travel expenses. However, we can guarantee that we will provide lodging, interpreter, and guide to local area for those who want to release their paper in the conference.
